Before we dive in again to the 2015 Grand Prix Final and watch the amazing Yuzu perhaps smash yet more [of his own] records, please enjoy this compilation of all the Instagram practice clips Johnny has posted since the last time I rounded them up for the blog.
Interestingly, when I went to gather these up again, I discovered that there were exactly three months’ worth of vids, from September 10 to December 10 (clearly we are long overdue for a clips post!). In assembling these, I didn’t include clips he did while on tour with Halloween on Ice, because those are of a different flavor than his late-night-alone-on-the-ice videos. I still ended up with twenty-four clips in all, which is a lot of Instagrams to embed in one blog post. So I decided to go a different route.
And while Yuzu has definitively made his mark on men’s competitive skating, setting a bar so high that it may be years before it is ever overcome, even his videos inspire some version of this response every time Johnny shares them, with joy and appreciation for Yuzu’s incredible gift, on his official Facebook:
Johnny you still remain one of my favorite skaters to watch! You have a passion that brings excitement and I love that.
And when Johnny posts one of his own practice clips, limited by Instagram to 15 seconds each, he draws reactions like these:
Your spins and 3A are better than 95% of men competing today. Your artistry, performance and interpretation has no equals. It’s a privilege to watch you skate.
Johnny, you still have the magic and the passion.
You make the world a little more beautiful with your skating.
And always: Please, couldn’t you post longer videos…?
So here is six minutes of just Johnny doing his thing.
As only he can.
REMINDER: If you’d like to offer happy holiday wishes to Johnny (and Tëma!), please feel free to send cards and small gifts to him through his fan mail service. Details and gift suggestions on this post, along with tons of gorgeous picspam!
